EMDB pipeline: Isosurface Extraction from Volumetric Data

This tutorial will walk you through part of our automated method for creating a 3D printable model from an image stack or other volumetric data. For this example, we will use data from the Electron Microscopy Database. All you need to follow this tutorial is the freely downloadable, open-source software package UCSF Chimera.

The steps include opening the volumetric dataset, setting the isosurface contour level, cleaning up the resulting isosurface and applying color, and then exporting the isosurface as mesh data which can be 3D printed.
