Pre- and Postprocessing Instructions
This design has two variants for injection molding and one for 3D printing. We recormend using an ABS that is medical grade for Injection molding. We have supplied a single cavity design as a zip file and solidworks file. The double cavity version has nicer rounding but a more complex mold and is provided as an STL and solidworks file
For printing we recommend printing in PLA with the following settings:
- Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm
- Programmed Extrusion Width: 0.5mm
- Layer Height: 0.2mm
- Shells: 5 (which results in a 2.5mm wall)
- Infill: 20%
- Infill Type: Cubic
- Solid Bottom Layers: 4 (which results in a 0.8mm thick bottom)
- Solid Top Layers: 4 (which results in a 0.8mm thick top)
Acceptable alternate 3d printing materials include PETG, ABS, ASA, Nylon. We don't have any information on chemical resistance of HIPS, and we don't recommend this material at this time until the team can conduct further investigation and testing.
The component can be easily stacked in a printer to increase the number of parts per batch. However this requires more extensive post processing to remove supports
