What spacers are and how/when they should be used:
Inhaler spacer is a device that connect to the inhaler from one side and have a mouth piece on the other side.
It's primary use is to help atomizing the Inhaler spray better by giving it room and time to expand and blend with some air before it enter the mouth.
In the COVID-19 period due to shortage in inhalers, several people need to share one inhaler, By using this personal disposable 3D printed spacer it can help significantly reduce cross contamination between patients.
I designed this inhaler spacer without any sharp corners, easy to use and as sanitary and posible, it was design intentionally to utilizing Vase mode as printing method which is the fastest printing method in FDM printers. This way it can be printed very fast and very cheaply and can be treat as disposable.
The inhaler has a tapered outlet and because of that, it may work ok regardless, but make sure to print a test unit and check the fit on an actual inhaler before you start printing large quantities.
The larger the nozzle the faster it will print and stronger it will be.
To make it easy to slice I've added the file in 1.2, 0.8, 0.6 wall thickness to work with (1-0.4mm nozzles.)
It was tested succesfuly with 1mm and 0.4mm nozzle
I want to thank Jay from NYCMakesPPE for helping me testing and making this device
I want to thank Ashley from NYCMakesPPE for donating her inhaler for science
I want to thank Al from NYCMakesPPE for providing the Idea and dimensions
I want to thank Rick from NYCMakesPPE for the test with 0.4mm nozzle and PETG
I want to thank Jake from NYCMakesPPE for the testing it with 0.6mm nozzle
