Pre- and Postprocessing Instructions
Bill of materials:
- 1x 3D Printed IC3D Budmen Face Shield V1 (bracket)
- 2x 3D Printed Strap Locks
- 18" Elastic Band (1/2" wide works well)
- 9" Foam Pad, any closed-cell foam safe for skin contact works (Weatherstrip or towel works for makeshift)
- 9x12" Clear PETG Sheet (Shield), thickness range 0.010" to 0.030" works well
- Cut / drill holes using the DXF template printed at 100% scale
- Acetate sheets also work
Instructions:
- Loop each end of the elastic band through the middle holes of each strap lock (leave about 2")
- Thread each end into the holes of the Face Shield Bracket
- Loop each end of the elastic band through the outer holes of each strap lock to create the adjustment feature
- Attached foam pad via adhesive backing
- Contact cement works well if needed
- Attached Shield using the middle holes first on the Face Shield Bracket
- Slip the edge of the Shield into the slot on the Bracket, then secure outer hole
- Repeat for the other side
Notes:
- There is not really an "upside down." Both orientations of the Bracket work, however one way gives more clearance for large goggles.
- PETG is a good choice. PLA can cause the strap lock and attachment points to be too brittle.

Print Settings
What print settings did you use to get four of these to print in 4 hours? We're printing on a Taz Pro printing with the settings from the attached GCODE file, but it comes out to about 10 hours. What print speed are you using?
Also, we tried to import the attached GCODE file directly into Cura, but its unusable because it centers on the top right corner of our build plate rather than the center and we're unable to move it.

Is ABS acceptable? ASA?
Please let me know as I am running low on filament. Are the following industrial-grade filaments acceptable?

The design says 11 x 11 print bed for 4 sets. what is the minimum for a sngle print? I have a smaller bed and I would like to make this and need to know if I need to order a bigger printer.

Repaired version
The face shield model is not manifold and has some internal faces where the side tabs meet the body. This caused some issues in my slicer (the tab perimeters were printed separately for several layers). My repaired version is at https://3dprint.nih.gov/discover/3dpx-013879

Repaired Version to Make Visor manifold
Thank you 3DLirious! I have been trying to fix this mesh from the stl file and discovered it is not easy. I have been having some printing issues due to this working with PETG. So I hope this helps. I was having similar issues to you. Thanks so much.

Thanks so much 3DLirious. I was having problems printing the old version because it was not manifold and this version works great!

An approach to reduce printing time and material
This remix (https://3dprint.nih.gov/discover/3dpx-014416) has a top sheet instead to reduce the time and material for printing while retaining the original shape of the shield.
