Here we have a ganglion neuron (part of the optic nerve) mapped by gamers on eyewire.org. This cell has a large body and many wide branches (dendrites). They are too thin to print with today's materials so we are experimenting with pumping up the branches. Two prototype files are available to download and print on Google Drive at: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0kNTX6Y7zy3aWk3aTJEZlFqZWc&authuser=0
or visit this link to obtain a file edited for printability by James Drake: http://3dprint.nih.gov/discover/3dpx-000529
CONTENTS:
1. coral neuron - plumped for printing with mediumfat branches
2. marshmallow neuron - plumped for printing with superfat branches
We are not yet sure which of these works best. Feel free to experiment with us.
Dozens more cells of varying morphologies to come.. :)
