Over the past few days, we’ve been collaborating directly with a hospital to build a 3D-printable respirator mask with the following requirements:

Reliable seal around the face, even when moving around
Uses HEPA filters
Allows physicians to breathe easily
Allows communication without being overly muffled
Easy to print
Reasonably comfortable for long periods of time
Incorporates large straps for security and comfort
Feasible to deploy from the community to the hospital in large numbers

HEPA Filter (non-coated)
Squishy gasket (we found this rubber foam gasket that’s super squishy and perfect. We contacted Frost King who said it’s non-latex, but call and double-check for yourself.)

This device has not been tested to assess the out-gassing limits of the material or their corresponding health effects.

Curve edges?

I have printed a few different masks to try out and I notice that most of them don't have any sort of curved or flat edge where it would press to the face. As it is, when i put weatherstripping inside the rim of the mask, it is basically sideways. So when i put it to my face it pulls off. I was wondering if the edges could be curved or flattened so that the weatherstripping could be put on a rim, to allow it to press direct between the face and mask instead of sideways?
